G’day, I’m Patrick

I want to provide my high quality and affordable exercise physiology services to Phillip Island and the surrounding areas and I hope to encourage an active lifestyle within our community.

Active Island EP started in 2024 when my partner and I moved to Phillip Island. We spent the two years prior travelling around Australia and seeing all the beautiful places this country has to offer. Our travels inspired us to relocate from Melbourne to a more regional area away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It has been a welcome change and we are loving the Island lifestyle.

Prior to our trip, I worked at The Alfred Hospital, The Victoria Clinic, Deakin University and a private practice in Melbourne. During this time, I completed home-based therapy and also saw clients in the hospital, rehabilitation and outpatient settings.

For many years I worked in public and private mental health settings, where I led the clinical exercise service. In these roles, I developed comprehensive exercise plans based on clients goals, preferences and health-related issues. I have often found that exercise has become more complicated than it really needs to be, and I pride myself on being able to provide a realistic, safe and effective exercise service.

Working in the mental health setting led to the opportunity to teach at Deakin University, where I co-designed and facilitated the “Mental Health and Exercise Behaviour” unit for the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology course.

Some of the areas that I have worked in include:

  • Mental health

  • Oncology

  • Organ transplants

  • Respiratory conditions

  • Cardiovascular and metabolic issues (diabetes)

  • Neurological issues (strokes, ABI/TBI and parkinsons)

  • Orthopaedics (joint replacements, arthritis)

  • Plus a range of other health conditions

What is an exercise physiologist?
